Copy letter to the Bristol slave trader, Michael Becher, June 23, 1753

The slave trade was a complex operation which relied upon the acquisition of intelligence from sources on all three points of the trading triangle. This letter from the plantation owner, Thomas Mills, reports on the state of the market in St Kitts and elsewhere, and advises on the most suitable Negros for sale; ‘Gold Coast Negroes hath Sold very high with us and those from Bite the Choice of the Men from the latter sold at £24’.
